How to make Roast Chicken?
Country chicken is one of the most desired and famous options for family lunch. That's because this dish offers a unique flavor and is very easy to make once you get the hang of it. This is one of the reasons why this recipe is so popular. If you want to learn how to make roast chicken in a super practical way, just follow the steps below.
Ingredients
For this recipe, you will need the following ingredients:
- 1 whole chicken with skin;
- ½ teaspoon of turmeric;
- 1 tablespoon thick salt (salt flower);
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar;
- 2 tablespoons olive oil;
- 1 teaspoon of sweet paprika;
- 2 teaspoons of powdered ginger;
- Freshly ground black pepper to taste.
Step by step
First, break the coarse salt into smaller pieces by pounding it with a pestle. After that, you should take a container and mix the following ingredients: turmeric, ginger, salt, brown sugar, paprika and black pepper.
In a large bowl, place the chicken and add the spices that were previously mixed, rubbing a lot throughout the skin of the chicken. To ensure more flavor to your recipe, you can make some holes in the meat so that the seasoning can penetrate. After that, cover the container with a lid or cling film, and let it marinate for about 1 hour.
At the end of that time, leave the chicken out of the fridge for 30 minutes until it is at natural temperature. In the meantime, you can preheat the oven to 200ºC for 10 minutes. Thus, place the chicken in the roasting pan with 2 tablespoons of olive oil and leave for 1 hour and 10 minutes.
To check if the chicken is roasted, just stick it with a toothpick, and if a clear liquid comes out, it means it's ready. If not, leave a few more minutes in the oven. Finally, just remove the baking sheet and let the chicken cool for 10 minutes before slicing it.
