Have you ever thought about going shopping and making your payments with a smile or waving goodbye to a camera? That could happen soon.

Merchants can use the Payface app, a fintech that has participated in Start Path, a Mastercard business accelerator, since January of this year. The idea is to launch the project globally in stores of all sizes.
“The way we pay needs to be aligned with the way we live, work and do business, offering consumers options with a level of security,” said Ajay Bhalla, current president of Cyber & Intelligence at MasterCard.
The Brazilian fintech was founded in Florianópolis, more specifically in 2018, connecting the face of each user through a facial biometrics among the most different means of payment that retailers use, such as credit cards, NFC, digital wallet, among others.
In addition to the project with Mastercard, the Brazilian fintech was a finalist in the Qatar Fintech Hub, co-founded by the Qatar Development Bank, in 2020.
Mastercard is also a pioneer in the use of biometrics – in stores and online – with secure ways to verify the identity of shoppers, replacing passwords with people. As this technology is increasingly adopted around the world, Mastercard collaborates with both stakeholders to maintain the highest levels of standards and security.
