How to plant gherkin
First keep in mind where the plant will go. Make sure it's a place with good sunlight for a few hours a day. This is important because, as mentioned, the gherkin thrives best in hot weather.
- choose the vase
This is a very free choice, you can opt for wooden, clay, cement and even plastic pots, although the latter type is less favorable to gas exchange with the environment.
It is important that the vase has holes in the bottom in order to drain the excessive amount of water from the irrigation. If you don't have it, make the holes with specific gardening tools.
- pot planting
Planting is very simple and only needs a few items, namely: a medium vase, plant seeds, vegetable or black soil, fertilizer (manure), water and gravel to facilitate the flow of water.
To begin with, spread a layer of gravel on the bottom of the pot and add fertilized soil. Once this is done, add the gherkin seeds in holes 2 cm deep, cover with soil and water with water.
- planting in vegetable garden
Repeat the procedure for planting in a pot, but in this case, the seedlings must be planted at a distance of 2 to 3 meters between each row and 1 meter between the seeds.
- Harvest
The gherkin harvest takes place about 80 days after planting. The most suitable size for a spoon is 3 to 7 cm in length. In addition, it must be performed before the emergence of seeds (green).
- plant care
Gherkin care includes fertilizing the plant with humus and manure every 20 days, regular watering, but without soaking the plant, and always keeping it exposed to sunlight. Isn't it simple? So make your plantation now!
