Privacy and security are issues in which digital companies invest a lot of money to increasingly improve and protect their users' data and information. The more armored the operating system is, the more secure the user will feel and trust the service provided by that platform.
Meta is one of the companies that has been announcing new security measures for its channels. In August, the CEO of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, announced the blocking of prints from Whatsapp, which is being made available for testing on Android. As reported by WABetaInfo last Monday (3), this measure comes with the aim of further increasing the privacy in conversations through the platform.

screenshot blocker
The function is already available for some members of the Beta version of the program. The screenshot blocker aims to prevent users from taking screenshots of photos and videos shared through the application. But it is important to point out that this tool only works for single view images, that is, those that the user can only see once. Photos and videos that are shared in the traditional way can still be leaked.
If the user tries to print the screen when opening the photo of just one view, he will end up with a completely black image. According to the publication, this same tool is still able to block attempts using third-party extensions to circumvent WhatsApp security standards.
Also according to the WABetaInfo publication, this function can be disabled, if the user wants to. It is important to point out that this tool does not prevent screenshots of conversations, even if there are messages that disappear from the chat, and it also does not prevent the user from being able to photograph the single image through another cell phone or digital camera.
The blocker, so far, is only available for WhatsApp Beta for Android, in version 2.22.22.3 of the application. People who signed up for the trial program need to update their app to the latest edition and check the feature availability on their device.
The launch date of the tool for the general public has not yet been revealed, but it is believed that this should not take long to happen. Before reaching the stable version of Android, the blocker must be released for testing on iOS devices and other platforms.
The novelty was presented by Zuckerberg along with other privacy features for WhatsApp, as well as the possibility to remove the “online” in the status of the service and the ability to view the list of previous participants of the groups.
