Proposals from insurers are being evaluated by the Ministry of Labor and Employment (MTE) to offer protection to app drivers, such as those from 99 and Uber. These measures aim to provide benefits similar to those existing for workers with a formal contract.
Last Friday, the 26th, Dyogo Oliveira, president of the National Confederation of General Insurance, Private Pension and Life Companies (CNseg), shared details of the proposals in an interview with Poder360, noting that they have the potential to benefit both the government and the country.

According to the Federal Government's proposal, the protection offered to app drivers would cover different situations. Among them, would be sick leave, which would guarantee financial support if the driver needs to be absent due to health problems.
In addition, the proposal would include coverage for accidents at work, aiming to provide assistance in case of any incidents during the exercise of the activity.
Reimbursement for damage to goods, such as vehicles used by drivers, such as cars and motorcycles, would also be valid.
Finally, the proposal mentions private pension, offering the opportunity for drivers to contribute to a financial reserve for the future.
The Federal Government’s proposal enables the end of “uberization”
The Minister of Labor and Employment, Luiz Marinho, expressed concern about the working conditions of app drivers and criticized “uberization” practices.
In an interview with Poder360, he highlighted that the so-called “uberization” is associated with the precariousness of activities related to applications.
The minister emphasized that the exploitation of people through this new technology is unacceptable. He defended that technologies should be used in order to benefit humanity, providing better remuneration and greater comfort to workers.
In addition, Minister Marinho emphasized the importance of guaranteeing access to social insurance for app workers. He highlighted the need to ensure Social Security protection for these professionals, but stressed that it is essential to go further.
For Marinho, there is the importance of establishing limits for the working day, in order to avoid exhaustion, accidents and illnesses and to create a healthy environment for this type of work.
