The increased vulnerability of seniors to financial scams is a growing concern, particularly following the launch and rapid spread of the PIX, which facilitates financial transactions enormously.
Unfortunately, scammers, even if they are people known to the victims, manage to take advantage of the lack of technological knowledge on the part of these people to commit crimes.

There are many reports of individuals being hit through the PIX, and, to make matters worse, this is an almost irreversible situation if the recipient of the transfer is not identified.
Elderly man received “PIX blow” from a “friend”
Recently, a shocking financial scam case involved a 46-year-old woman and a 73-year-old elderly man.
The woman, introducing herself as a “friend” of the elderly man, requested her device, claiming that she needed to perform an update. He promptly gave the cell phone to the woman, who took advantage of her trust to steal it. The innocent request hid a malicious intent: making an undue transfer through the PIX.
Upon becoming aware of the case, the Civil Police of Minas Gerais, the state where the coup took place, acted promptly. and arrested the woman, who was accused of stealing BRL 3,000 from the elderly person's account through transfer instant. With quick police action, the money was recovered and returned to you, the victim of the fraudulent bank transfer.
Evidently, the PIX is not a bad tool. However, the elderly need to be protected and made aware so that they don't fall for scams like this.
