Factors that contributed to the reduction and educational growth

Although there is no specific research to explain the reason for this reduction in the Federal District, specialists in education believe that the existence of public policies already implemented may have influenced the results positives.

In addition, Youth and Adult Education (EJA) plays a fundamental role, with approximately 33,000 students enrolled in 95 units, contributing to the improvement of the index.

Advances in secondary education and educational panorama in Brazil

The study also reveals an increase in the number of people with complete secondary education in the Federal District, with an increase of 738 people in 2022, compared to 703 people four years ago. Women represent the largest share of this advance.

On the national scene, Brazil also registered a reduction in the illiteracy rate, from 6.1% in 2019 to 5.6% in 2022, representing 9.6 million illiterates in the country.

Other states with low illiteracy rates

In addition to the Federal District, other Brazilian states also have low illiteracy rates. Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul stand out as states with the lowest illiteracy rates in the country.

These states have invested in effective educational policies, which aim to guarantee access to quality education and promote literacy and school development. These efforts have contributed to the reduction of illiteracy and the formation of a more educated and capable society.

Challenges and obstacles for Brazilian education

Despite advances, there are still challenges to be faced. A pregnancy Early childhood, work, lack of interest and lack of access to education are some of the main reasons for dropping out of school among young people aged 14 to 29 in Brazil.

Unicef data from 2022 showed that 2 million young people aged between 11 and 19 left school before completing basic education. However, it is important to emphasize that the universalization of education for the 6-14 age group has practically been achieved, with an enrollment rate of 99.4% in 2022.
