Google Drive will be unavailable on some versions of Windows
In October 2021, the Windows 11 operating system was released. However, even after almost two years, there are still people using the old versions, including Windows 7 and 8, which were abandoned by Microsoft.
Earlier this year, the company ended support for Windows 7 and 8, leaving those versions vulnerable to cyberattacks.
Now Google is also following this update and has decided to stop Google Drive support for Windows 7 from the beginning of 2023.
Over time, the market share of these versions of Windows has declined considerably, leaving only a few users remaining.
although the google drive has continued to serve some loyal users, without the support of a technology team dedicated to fixing vulnerabilities, the service becomes less reliable for users of the Windows 7.
As the months went by without support, Google added a notice in the Notes section of Drive that users of this and some later versions will also experience issues.
As of August this year, Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 32-bit operating systems will also no longer be able to access the cloud service. However, there are solutions available to ensure the safety of your files in the cloud.
Upgrading to 64-bit Windows 10 or Windows 11 should resolve the issue, allowing you to access Google Drive again.
If you are unable or unwilling to upgrade your operating system, there are other cloud service options available that may suit your needs.
