The) Did he drop the flag? or Did He raise the flag?
B) Did he lower his horse? or did he harness the horse?
People constantly reverse the meanings of these verbs! Do you know which prayer is correct in the above pairs?
use harness when you want to say that you will put harnesses or ornaments on.
use put downwhen you want to get the following meanings: lower, put on the ground, go down, get discouraged, lose strength.
If in doubt, remember that “harness”, that equipment placed on horses, has an “e”.
An observation to be made is regarding the conjugation of verbs with the final –ear. It is customary to say “harness”, which does not exist, as they say: brake, supper, fear. These verbs are irregular and therefore do not follow patterns. The vowel “i” only appears in rhizotonic forms, that is, when the stressed syllable (the strongest) is inside the stem (word structure that does not change).
The verb “arriar”, ending in -iar, is regular, that is, conjugated normally, without exceptions.
See some examples with the verbs arrear and arriar:
The) The national flag is raised at 7 am and lowered at 6 pm. (descent)
B) He harnessed his horse this morning and left. (put a harness)
ç) He dropped his pants and did his business right there. (downloaded)
So, going back to the opening prayers, the right thing will be: He lowered the flag and He harnessed the horse.
