The pandemic was a great and strong influence for us to be increasingly connected to digital media. Although we have this notion, we do not know how far this impact may affect us. Little by little, we feel that virtual experiences are overlapping physical experiences and we are increasingly living in a new real world.
A report was released by the vice president of Deloitte, Jana Arbanas, taking stock of the real changes that were impacted by digital media. About 50% of Generation Z and millennials in the United States agree that the physical experience is no longer as attractive and primordial.

In addition to this change, another finding was evidenced: older people prefer to watch television – programs subscriptions, films, series -, while the younger generations divide their attention with other means of interaction.
Virtual experiences are overlapping physical experiences
As a surprise – or not – 50% of Gen Z and millennials in the United States, ages 14 to 40, agree that virtual experiences have arrived to replace face-to-face experiences and that they are a great advantage. Among Gen Z, Boomers and others – age 41 and older – only 19% agree with this impact.
For the most part, younger generations are prone to the change caused by the pandemic.
About 48% of Generation Z and millennials said they spend more time interacting with others on social media, much more than in the physical world. Another 20% of older people also say they feel the same when they interact more in the virtual than in the physical.
Spending time watching television, movies or series is the preferred activity for generations over 41 years old, with 55% affirmative. Of younger consumers, however, only 30% say that this is a good pastime: about 19% prefer video games, 16% prefer music and 19% any content of their own.
