According to a survey carried out by the National Education Portal (PNE), Brazil registered 2,298 threats of school violence only in the first half of 2023. The data are organized by state and cover the period from January 1st to June 30th.
However, the number can be higher. This is because 16 of the 27 Brazilian federations have not shared their data with the news portal. Among them are the three most populous in the country: São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais.
