Scientific studies with olive oil intake
Researchers released a meta-analysis that pooled two very large studies. The two papers included data on the health and eating habits of more than 92,000 individuals over two years.
In this way, scientists found that people who consumed about ½ tablespoon of olive oil per day had a decreased risk of dying from any cause by 19% compared to those who almost never consumed oil.
Furthermore, those who switched from butter, margarine or mayonnaise to olive oil had a 34% lower mortality rate than those who did not switch and continued to consume these processed foods.
