According to Alex Jenkins, director of the WA Data Science Innovation Hub at Curtin University: technology It’s evolving extremely fast.”
The director continues: “Now we are in that leap in functionality that these tools are becoming. making it incredibly useful for both generating new content and having conversations in a style human. So we're really starting to see these tools act in a way comparable to human interaction. Level Capacity”.
“Eventually, these tools will likely become smarter than most humans and more capable than most humans. This is an exciting and dangerous future.”
The ChatGPT
ChatGPT was released to the public in November by AI company OpenAI. It is an AI tool that can respond in writing similar to human form.
According to OpenAI, their mission is: “to ensure that artificial general intelligence (AGI) – by which we mean highly autonomous systems that outperform humans at the most economically valuable work – benefit all of humanity".
After the launch of ChatGPT, some issues ended up being discussed. The possibility of technology being used by students to cheat in their tasks and about which jobs could replace human labor was raised.
Alex Jenkins again gave his opinion on the matter: “ChatGPT is an amazing example of the evolution of a set of AI models called big language models. These models work by extracting huge amounts of text, from the Internet and from books, and absorbing that knowledge and building an understanding of the world that can be used to generate new content written".
Jenkins pointed out that these tools already existed, but that they didn't quite capture what humans meant. And he continued: “But now with ChatGPT we are seeing these models get to the point where it feels like you are almost having a conversation. with a person, it feels like you're talking to a system that understands your intent and what you'd like to achieve with the tool".
The launch of ChatGPT is scheduled for 2023 and is expected to be a game changer.
