Subway is widely recognized for offering healthy snacking options. For people who are on a diet, it is a perfect fast food option. The menu includes sandwiches assembled with a selection of meat and vegetables of your choice.
While there are a few dessert options, the company has never created a sweet snack combination before. However, that is about to change with the launch of the company's first sweet snack option in Japan.
After all, what will be inside these sweet sandwiches?
The company said it will provide two sweet sandwich options. Both will feature an ingredient called anko, which is a sweet red bean paste. For those who believe that this paste can be harmful to health, they are wrong, as it is rich in antioxidants, proteins, complex carbohydrates and fiber.
Tsubuan will also be included in the options for these sandwiches. It is a thick red bean paste. The small bean beans are of Hokkaido origin. They will retail for 130 yen (US$1.20).
Another sandwich option
One more option that will be made available is Anko and Mascarpone. It also has the Tsuban paste, however a significant amount of mascarpone is included on top. People who were able to try this combination said it tasted sweet but sour and refreshing. The selling price will be 170 yen.
What is Subway's biggest goal with this creation?
The main purpose of the company is to attract customers for the afternoon snack. These sweet sandwich options, including, will only be available after 14:00. For now, this novelty will only be available at branches in Japan from October 9th.
