Over the past two years, we've been seeing crises at every major tech company in the world. They are mass layoffs and reduction in the teams of several big techs.

One thing is certain: even with layoffs in companies, Information Technology (IT) and its subareas have grown.
According to a survey on the site Empregos.com.br, there were more than 70,000 vacancies in the area. This meant an increase of 34.3% in the offer.
What explains the cuts in technology jobs at large companies?
When the Information Technology market exploded, there wasn't anyone who wanted it. This is because vacancies in this area are usually very attractive. Most offer very good salaries, are remote and very flexible jobs.
However, not all companies were able to afford this type of vacancy, especially after the pandemic. Including the website
Tecmundo, the coordinator of the Computer Science course at the Instituto Mauá de Tecnologia, Ana Paula Gonçalves Serra, said that many positions were cut after the health crisis, as they were no longer needed. But what few people know is that IT, artificial intelligence and programming are not exclusive competences of big techs. Small businesses and even local companies also need these services, which can represent a good opportunity for those who want to invest in the area.
Where to invest?
If you want to study technology and enter this market, there are some branches of the profession that are on a growing trend.
The first one is the schedule, the basis of technology. Those companies that want to start treading a path in the digital market will need these professionals a lot.
This brings us to our second area on the rise: the artificial intelligence. The market is investing a lot in this sector and will need increasingly qualified people.
Finally, we can mention data science and cybersecurity, professionals who will be increasingly needed in the area. This will be a true gold mine for new professionals and it is a niche that is still little explored in the market, with many excellent vacancies open in various parts of the world.
So don't be alarmed by layoffs. Realize that this is just the tip of the iceberg. There is still a lot to explore in this relatively new market in Brazil and in several other countries.
