Obligation to pay income tax for retirees and pensioners

In order to be obliged to declare the Income Tax, the retiree or pensioner needs to receive a total amount of R$ 28,559.70 per year. Thus, in these cases, the declaration must be made and sent to the Revenue, as with other workers in the period of execution of activities.

In this sense, this value is the “cutoff” to know which people within these groups are required to declare the IR. For those who receive less than this ceiling, there is no need to worry, unless you are outside the two exceptions.

The first is in relation to rental properties. Thus, anyone who has a property that is rented and the amount obtained added to the INSS benefit exceeds the maximum amount, will need to declare the IR. In the second exception, material goods are valued. Therefore, if the beneficiary owns any asset, such as bank investments, own house, car, etc., worth more than R$300,000, he is also obliged to declare the IR.

See the period for retirees to declare the IR

For people in this category, since March 7th, the deadline for retirees to declare the 2022 Income Tax has been open. With this, all beneficiaries who are individuals need to send the statement by April 29 of that year.

To do this, you need to enter the official website of the Federal Revenue and download the IRPF 2022. By filling in all the necessary data and information, just send the statement through the Government website.
