Children and teenagers, between 8 and 17 years old, can be assisted completely free of charge by the “Youths in the Pandemia” project. In a virtual way, the service is aimed at the age group that had the mental health compromised by the context presented during the Covid-19 pandemic that has punished the world in recent years.
The project was founded by a group of researchers from the Institute of Psychiatry at the Hospital das Clínicas, Faculty of Medicine, University of São Paulo (USP).

For children and adolescents, this moment may have been even more stressful. Feelings of sadness, depression and learning difficulties are easily identified symptoms in younger people after this critical period.
Get to know USP's psychology project
The State of São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) finances the Thematic Project Interventions in Early Childhood and Cognitive Social and Emotional Development Trajectories. Professor Guilherme Polanczyk, from the Institute of Psychiatry at the Hospital das Clínicas of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo (USP), is the project's coordinator.
Free sessions are held, online, through a technological device that allows communication (computer, tablet, cell phone, etc.). At least one of those responsible for the child and adolescent needs to participate in the meeting with the professional. It is indicated that the young person is at least one month without using psychiatric or psychological medications recommended by another professional.
The project website is now accepting applications for the indicated age group.
