In 2023, most people have at some point thought about living on YouTube income. Creating a video channel on the platform and being a successful youtuber can be very profitable. After all, you can earn good money with your content published there.
When you reach a certain level within YouTube, you join the platform's Partner Program. From there, content creators can start earning a share of the ads that appear before and alongside videos. And that's when the money starts pouring into the account.

How do I join the YouTube Partner Program?
To join the YouTube Partner Program and start earning money from videos, the content creator must have a minimum of 500 followers, three public uploads in the last 90 days, and 3,000 watch hours in the last year. Or even 3 million views of Shorts in the last 90 days.
This will entitle you to some exclusive features like Channel Clubs, Super Chat, Super Stickers and the ability to promote products with YouTube Shopping.
However, to start earning AdSense from the platform, you need to have at least 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours in the previous year. When you meet these requirements, the Monetization option will become available and you can sign up to earn money.
Yeah, but how much money do youtubers earn?
This depends on a number of factors. Eight youtubers shared their earnings with the Business Insider website. The average of how much money they receive is counted per 1,000 views.
That is, for every 1,000 views on the videos, they earn between US$ 1.61 and R$ 29.30. This varies on the type of ad, acceptance of the ad and how much the advertiser pays YouTube. It is important to note that the platform gets 45% of the revenue and the content creator, 55%.
For example, skippable ads have lower revenue than skippable ads. The same goes for advertisements inserted in the middle of videos or in their footers.
Something that few people count is that, when the viewer clicks on the advertisement and goes to the advertiser's website, the content creator earns a little more.
In addition, we have other variables in the equation: the type of content and who is watching. YouTube also takes into account the retention of the video (how long you keep the audience there), the length of the content and the type too (whether it's music, tutorial, documentary, and so on).
Here is an addendum: the view only starts counting after 30 seconds of video.
And, finally, there is a distinction of earnings in the country where the youtuber lives. According to the Hotmart website, it is estimated that a creator in Brazil earns more or less US$ 1.65 per 1,000 views. While an American can earn US$ 4.50.
One more thing: YouTube's algorithm is constantly changing. So the rules and values quoted here may be out of date the following week.
