It was through this survey that it became possible to estimate that this increase in the floor should result in the closure of 20,000 hospital beds across the entire Brazilian territory, which will consequently cause around 83,000 layoffs. It is worth emphasizing that this survey was carried out by five prominent entities in the hospital sector in Brazil.
They were:
- Confederation of the Holy Houses of Mercy;
- Hospitals and Philanthropic Entities (CMB);
- National Health Confederation (CNSaúde);
- Brazilian Federation of Hospitals (FBH);
- National Association of Private Hospitals (Anahp);
- Brazilian Association of Diagnostic Medicine (Abramed).
It is important to emphasize that the Union, the states, the Federal District and the municipalities have until the end of 2022 to regularize this new increase in the category of professionals in question. In addition, it is also essential to highlight that, according to the entities responsible for this calculation, the adequacy should significantly increase the institutions' payroll expenses. The minimum value is 60%.
As a result, those who have already been consulted point out that they will have to make cuts in employees to be able to bear this new cost.
Finally, Daniel Menezes de Sousa – member of the Federal Nursing Council (Cofen) – said: “We defend that it is we need to improve financing for public health and we stand in solidarity with the philanthropic sector, whose importance is vital. It so happens that the financing problems of this segment do not come from today, and it is not correct to attribute to the valorization of workers the possibility of services becoming unfeasible”.
