Karina and Alexander worked together at the company essDOCS, which operates in the stationery business and has extensions in several countries.
In 2021, the professional even resigned from the company because of alleged cases of harassment.
However, when he had access to the professional's petition, a judge at the Central Court of London immediately rejected the opening of sexual harassment proceedings.
Was it really harassment? What happened?
According to information released by the BBC network, which originally reported the case, the court not only rejected the action brought by Karina Gasparova, but also rejected the attempts of incrimination made by the technician from you.
As a way of trying to prove the alleged harassment, Karina raised some emails that she received from Goulandris where the executive supposedly asked her to leave through codes.
In the judicial decision, the magistrate responsible for the case pointed out that the data presented by Gasparova as related to sexual harassment, in fact, did not mean that.
According to the IT technique, the expressions “xx”, “yy”, “???” and others sent by her boss in e-mails, meant, in fact, the intention to have sexual relations or make appointments with her.
Also according to the judge in the case, the emails sent by Alexander Goulandris to his former subordinate were “genuine requests for information” and not obscene messages.
To try to convince the court that she was making sense, Karina Gasparova said that, in addition to the alleged sexual email messages, her former boss fondled her and used “attractive voice tones” to communicate with her sometimes.
Among the alleged attempts at physical harassment pointed out by Karina are touching her hands and even her legs during working hours.
Gasparova further claimed that after rejecting her alleged advances, Alexander Goulandris began to treat her rudely in her daily life at the company. This would have prompted the request for resignation cited earlier.
Despite Karina's allegations, the final court decision pointed out that the professional was confused and saw a nonexistent meaning in Alexander Goulandris' attitudes.
“The applicant has distorted the perception of everyday events,” said the decision. "She has demonstrated a tendency to make extraordinary allegations without evidence," the legal opinion added.
Karina Gasparova ended up being ordered to pay 5,000 euros (about R$ 27,000) to essDOCS, which be pledged to cover attorney costs caused by their action considered innocuous by the judgment.
