Watch out for unusual tests in job interviews
Preparing for a job interview involves not only intellectual factors and knowledge of the company in question, but also preparation for possible assessment activities.
The candidate is under constant observation by the evaluators, from simple activities that demonstrate a bit of your personality, performance in a specific presentation and some teamwork. One CEO highlighted how the pop test at the job interview works for his company:
How does the test work?
The CEO who shared this assessment was Trent Innes, who works at software company Comporo. According to him, the main purpose of his evaluation is to understand the attitude level of the candidate.
Initially, before asking any question to the candidate, he directs him to the cup, allowing him to choose a drink of preference. After that moment, the CEO starts the interview with the glass of drink present in the room. At the end, he assesses whether the candidate will offer to return the crockery for the pantry.
What does this test tell you about candidates?
According to Trent Innes, this assessment allows you to identify the employee's behavior beyond their curriculum skills and previous experience. This is because, in many moments in a company, the attitudes of the employees have a significant weight for the proper functioning of the activities.
Others responsible for valuations of large companies also use other strategies such as replace an employee at the front desk to identify how the candidate behaves and treats others employees.
This reflects that the evaluation process starts at the first contact with the company and all of its attitudes can reflect on its approval or not.
