The current Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, determined last Monday, the 20th, that the Federal Revenue select products seized in inspections to donate to the victims of the storms on the north coast of São Paulo. According to him, there are more than R$ 11 million in clothes, shoes, bed, table and bath items, personal hygiene, cleaning material and kitchen utensils that are stored. The Federal Revenue Service is responsible for overseeing compliance with tax, customs and foreign trade laws in Brazil. As part of its activities, the Federal Revenue carries out inspections that result in the seizure of products that have been illegally imported or exported or that do not meet regulations prohibited.
Products seized in Federal Revenue inspections may include counterfeit goods, smuggled goods, with irregular documents, in excess of what is allowed, or that pose risks to public health, safety or the environment environment. Among the most common products withheld by the Federal Revenue are electronics, clothing, cosmetics, food, medicine, weapons and drugs.
After being apprehended, the products are stored in Federal Revenue warehouses until they are released or destroyed, depending on the circumstances. Product owners have the right to contest the seizure and request release or return the products, but must follow the legal procedures and comply with the requirements protected by IRS.

After many people were harmed by the floods in São Paulo, the Minister of Finance determined that part of the seized items be directed to the victims.
Through social networks, Haddad thanked the employees of the Federal Revenue, from the 8th Fiscal Region (SP), who were mobilized to select the material during the holiday.
In addition to this Haddad measure, the Advocate General of the Union (AGU), Jorge Messias, made the body available to all managers of the civil defense area to assist in the adoption of the necessary measures for a quick response and assistance to hit. AGU requested support from professional associations of legal careers that make up the institution to promote campaigns to help victims.
