As everyone knows, the minimum wage changes every year due to inflation. This amount has had a direct impact on the benefits paid by the INSS (National Social Security Institute), in addition to unemployment insurance, PIS/PASEP and a few other benefits. The new minimum wage in the amount of R$ 1,294.00 was set by the Budgetary Guidelines Law (LDO) for next year, 2023, however, the national floor will only be confirmed at the end of year.
The value adjustment concerns approximately 6.77% of inflation on the current value of R$ 1212. However, for the end of the year, it is possible to take into account an estimate of the INPC, where it may still undergo some changes.

The benefits paid by the INSS, which has been based on the national minimum wage, change according to the minimum wage. The BPC (Continued Provision Benefit), which is intended for people with disabilities and people over 65 years old low-income, is an example to be used, as it pays its beneficiaries a monthly amount equal to that of the minimum wage.
It is also possible to note a change related to the unemployment insurance that is paid to employees when they are dismissed without just cause, where in the calculation for payment the value of the national floor that is in force is used, therefore, when adjustments are made in the minimum wage, the value is also changes.
It is very important to point out that the calculation for the value of this insurance is done according to the average of the last three wages that the worker received, which can be paid between 3 and 5 installments depending on the total number of times it has been requested.
Now talking about the salary allowance PIS/PASEP is different from unemployment insurance, where it pays workers an amount of a minimum wage at most. It aims to help workers who carry out their duties for 12 months in the base year.
Finally, we find a survey that was recently released by Dieese (Inter-union Department of Statistics and Socioeconomic Studies), where it shows that the ideal minimum wage to be able to contemplate a family that consists of four people in a dignified way, would exceed R$ 6 thousand. This amount is 5 times above the amount that is currently paid.
Today, the readjustment that is carried out in the minimum wage has been made based only on the INPC. Because of this, the readjustment can only correct the inflation rate that we witness, or rather, Brazilians cannot have their real purchasing power high, since the increase in the minimum wage only concerns the increase in inflation. It is important to say that until 2019, in order to calculate the national floor, they used GDP variation as a basis, in addition to the INPC.
