What will Toray produce to support flying cars?

On this basis, the company will dedicate itself to the research and development of materials such as carbon fiber, which reduces the weight of aircraft. The company will also adopt technologies that use artificial intelligence to efficiently select materials that meet customers' needs and then manufacture those materials.

Toray is the world's largest manufacturer of carbon fiber and has already supplied the material to urban air mobility startups such as Joby Aviation, from the United States, and Lilium, from Germany.

The desire for the development of urban air mobility is growing considerably in Europe and the US. U.S and the demand for carbon fiber materials for the wings and fuselages of such vessels is expected to increase sharply.

Toray expects the global urban air mobility market to exceed 30 trillion yen by 2030.

The company is involved in a range of advanced materials research and development initiatives, working closely with companies, universities and other organizations to advance the field of high-tech materials and develop innovative solutions to current challenges and futures.
