Based on the responses of more than 7,000 young people from Generation Z, aged between 16 and 26, the study revealed that 40% of them want to own their own business or work as freelancers throughout their career.

This is because Gen Z values ​​flexibility in their jobs, something offered by freelancing. According to the study, 71% of respondents said that flexibility and the ability to manage their own demands are priorities when choosing their next job.

It is also worth mentioning that a third of people value having passion for their work.

Freelancing is seen as a smart option

Among young Americans, about 73% say that freelancing is a great option in an unstable economy like the one of recent times. This work model allows continuing to generate income even in the midst of mass layoffs, including in large companies.

Fiverr CMO Gall Arnon further states:

“As the latest generation to enter the workforce, Gen Z is at the forefront of the latest trends transforming the world of work. Amidst an economic downturn and a rapidly changing job market, we are seeing Gen Z continue to prioritize flexibility and work driven by passion, making freelance careers an increasingly popular option attractive."

Therefore, Arnon also states that freelancing is very attractive precisely because it gives autonomy to people to do what they really like, having, above all, control over their own earnings and demands.
