The internet can be a gateway to numerous problems

Lecturer Aliandra did not expect her case to be reviewed again and even to reach the Federal Supreme Court. For those who don't know, when the judgment reaches the STF it is because it is considered one of the most important when related to the internet.

In view of Aliandra's victory, it is understood that platforms managed by companies such as Google, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and TikTok, must be responsible for the content that their users share.

The Battle of Aliandra vs Google

Aliandra won the first and second instances since the action came into view. This battle ended up in the STF because big tech appealed to the case. The teacher, therefore, wants Google to pay her compensation for considering him co-responsible for what happened.

She says that before filing the suit, she sent an out-of-court letter to Google requesting that it remove the community created against her “I hate Aliandra”, but the company did not respond satisfactory.

After all, why should the company pay compensation?

Even if the Minas Gerais court concluded that big tech was not responsible for the content, it should have taken some action after being warned about the situation. For not doing anything at the time, she was obliged to pay the compensation.

Google feature support

This whole situation goes beyond convincing the STF against Google.

Civil Entities Say Tech Companies Shouldn't Be Responsible for Enforcing Content of its users, because they could assume a very arbitrary role and go against the freedom of expression.
