According to data announced this Thursday (20th) by the Brazilian Yearbook of Public Security, the Federal District has a staggering number of missing people. There are about 83.3 disappearances per 100,000 inhabitants. The information relates to the year 2022.
The DF recorded more than half of the national average, which is 32 missing persons per 100,000 inhabitants. Speaking of exact numbers, there are about 2,348 people missing. These values represent an increase of 11.6% compared to the previous year.

According to the Secretariat for Public Security of the Federal District, the age group with the highest rate of disappearances is between 31 and 50 years old – around 838 people per year. In addition, of the total, most victims are men.

The Secretariat of Public Security also recorded other important information, such as:
- Children and adolescents disappear more due to family conflicts, domestic violence, substance abuse and disorientation;
- Adults disappear due to abuse of toxic substances, or also because they do not communicate with family members when they go on a trip with friends or romantic partners.
Also according to the information, most missing persons tend to appear after 24 hours – the highest average is over 181 days, with 1.3% of registered cases.

In 2022, Brazil recorded an average of 203 cases of disappearance per day – totaling 74,061 per year. The highest percentage presented was 46.7% in the Southeast, followed by 22.3% in the South, 14.8% in the Northeast, 9.7% in the Midwest and 6.5% in the North.
São Paulo accounts for the vast majority of cases, totaling 20,411. In total, only Goiás and Minas Gerais had a drop in registrations – which went against the grain of the rest of the country, which, in general, only had increases.
