The celebration of Children's Day in Brazil was born from the idea of federal deputy Galdino do Valle Filho, in the 1920s, when October 12 was chosen to commemorate the date.
However, in 1960, the Estrela toy factory made a promotion together with Johnson & Johnson, to launch Baby Week robust, where he covered his toy sales targets and, from then onwards, he started to celebrate Children's Day with many gifts.
But this celebration is not held worldwide, on the same date.
Most countries celebrate according to the UN - United Nations, with the day of all children in the world on the 20th November, date marked by the approval of the Declaration of Children's Rights, where all of them, regardless of race, creed, color or gender are entitled to receive affection, love, understanding, food, health care, free education and against any form of exploitation of same.
Cultural diversity - the different celebrations
In India, the celebration takes place on November 14, the birthday of Jawaharlal Nehru, Prime Minister of India, when she became independent from the United Kingdom.
In Portugal and Mozambique on June 1st.
In New Zealand, Children's Day is always the last Sunday in October. Each year, children choose an animal native to the country to honor.
In Japan, the celebration has some curiosities. For boys, the date is on May 5th, the Tango no Sekku (Children's Day). On that date, families wear traditional war helmets so that children grow up strong and healthy. You eat rice cake stuffed with red beans and wrapped in oak leaves and rice cake wrapped in bamboo leaves. As for the girls, the celebration takes place on March 3rd through the traditional doll parties, known as "Hina Matsuri". Families with daughters organize exhibitions of dolls, which represent the former imperial court.
