CAMRip, HDTS, DVDRip, BDRip, WEBRip and HDTV are some of the most popular video formats. The main difference is in the image and sound quality. See the main features of these formats in increasing order of quality.
CAMRip
As the name suggests, this format is ripped (extracted) from a camera. That is, the content is usually recorded by a handheld camera or even a cell phone, in a movie theater.
The audio source is also recorded by some external audio equipment, such as a microphone, directly from the movie being played back.
This is why in some versions of CAMRip we see shadows passing by, or hear people talking.
Low quality
HDTS
To understand HDTS, we have to discuss about TS, or Telesync. TS is an improved version of CAMRip. This is because in it the released film is recorded by a professional camera, with better stabilization compared to that of CAMRip, which generally uses low quality recording devices.
The audio quality on the TS comes straight from the cinema, but is still subject to external noise.
HDTS is used to classify a TS that was recorded in high definition. However, it is still a cinema recording and its video and audio may contain interference.
Quality: Average
dvdrip
DVDRip is better than the formats mentioned above. After all, it is a direct DVD copy of the movie, which is later converted into other formats such as AVI, RMVB or MP4.
In this format, menus and additional information are removed from the video to consume less space.
DVDRip uses Xvid (DivX) codec for video and MP3 (AC3) for audio, which ensures good sound and picture quality.
Therefore, when DVDRip of a certain movie is released, it often replaces previous formats available on the internet.
Quality: Good
BRRip (or BDRip)
In this format, movies are ripped directly from Blu-Ray discs and converted into other formats such as AVI, RMVB and others. These video formats support a variety of devices like DVD players, PlayStation, XBox, etc.
Normally, BRrip format is in Matroska (.mkv).
Both BRRip and BDRip can be considered an improved version of DVDRip. The only disadvantage of this type is that its size becomes larger in relation to the resolution (720p or 1080p).
Quality: Very good
WEBRip
This is one of the most common formats on the web. WEBRips are videos extracted from streaming online, such as Netflix, and then encoded.
They usually use specific programs to maintain the quality transmitted from the site, with resolutions of 720p and 1080p.
Quality: Excellent
HDTV
This type of format is generally used for TV series that are broadcast on broadcast channels. streaming (HBO, Netflix, etc.).
They are captured from a TV with a PCI DIGITAL card, which transmits large format images in greater detail. Therefore, they usually have the best results.
