Young guard
The Jovem Guarda emerged in the mid-1960s and was one of the main Brazilian cultural and musical movements. In fact, Jovem Guarda was a program presented by Erasmo Carlos, Roberto Carlos and Wanderléa in 1965, on TV Record in São Paulo.
O Young Guard movement of the 60's in Brazil was not only musical, but also the modern look and agitated and happy performances. In addition, the lyrics of the songs of the Jovem Guarda movement addressed harmonious scenarios and adolescent passions.
See below what the article says about Jovem Guarda do Brasil School:
"The new sound experienced after the emergence of rock music style, from the 1950s onwards, motivated many young people to reproduce this new genre with lyrics set in Brazilian urban settings. New singers and bands appeared in the music scene at the time, like the kings of “iê, iê, iê” rocked by the sound of electric guitars and the rhythm dictated by the drums. In that same period, TV became the great space for the popularization of artists such as Roberto Carlos, Wanderléia, Erasmo Carlos, Sérgio Reis, Os Vips, Golden Boys, Jerry Adriani and Ronnie Von.
The everyday situations represented through the songs of the Jovem Guarda musical movement were generally endowed with a relaxed atmosphere and by situations of a comic nature. The euphoria of a stolen kiss, a car ride through the city or a trip to the cinema became the background of fictional situations that populated the imagination of the fans of those young idols.
This dispute demonstrated the great cultural effervescence of the Brazilian music scene during the 1960s. As time went by and the public that was loyal to Jovem Guarda matured, many of its artists ventured into other fields of music. This situation can be seen through the career of Roberto Carlos, who in the following decades would become one of the greatest representatives of romantic music in Brazil."
Brazilian music in studies
Given its importance in the history of Brazilian music, Jovem Guarda can be approached in entrance exams and in the And either, since the texts that appear in the tests can be excerpts from songs. Movement can also appear on history tests.
In the same way, lyrics of songs from Brazilian Popular Music (MPB) are recurrent in the tests and, in addition to stamping questions on the Language test, can address the historical context in which it was composed.
