Yesterday, November 28th, while Brazil was playing another match in the Qatar World Cup, the Ministry of Education (MEC) blocked R$ 244 million from the budget of the country's federal universities. In all, the cut was R$ 1.68 billion for the folder.
This is not the first blockade in education in 2022. In the middle of the year, the government had already announced a budget block of R$ 438 million.
According to the National Association of Directors of Federal Institutions of Higher Education (Andifes), the budget is for various expenses of federal universities, such as electricity, payment of outsourced employees, contracts and services and purses.
Do not stop now... There's more after the publicity ;)
According to Andifes, "The government seems to "pull the rug out" of its own units with this withdrawal of resources, offending its own norms and making it impossible to plan expenses in progress, either with members of its internal community, its outsourced workers, suppliers or contractors."
If not reversed, locks can become definitive resource cuts.

Brasil Escola even reported a blockade of BRL 328 million in the amounts foreseen in 2022. At the time, Andifes denounced the blockade on the grounds that the functioning of universities would be made unfeasible with the cut.
After pressure, the government removed the blockade of funds.
