When talking about verbal regency, almost always some doubts are raised. Yes, this fact stems from the inability that many users, which may or may not be your case, have when it comes to the formal standard of language. In this way, as soon as we try to get rid of such questions, of such obstacles that so much for us bother, the better our understanding of the many peculiarities that guide the facts will be manifested. linguistics.
Thus, one of the procedures considered viable is manifested by the understanding of what is really conceptualized as verbal Regency. Such an occurrence is nothing more than the relationship established between the verbs and their respective complements, which may or may not be governed by the preposition. Thus, it is essential that we pay significant attention to the transitivity of certain verbs. In this sense, it means to say that, depending on the context, the same verb can obey rules distinct, a fact that everything will depend on the meaning we attribute to a given shape verbal. For example, in order to better understand the case in question, let us observe:
The doctor assists the patient.
In this context, we have that the meaning attributed to the verb to assist is related to the action of providing help, caring.
We watched the movie.
In this one, we have that the idea portrayed by the verb refers to the fact of being present, experiencing.
Assumptions evidenced, the conclusion we reached was that in one case the preposition was present, in another it was not.
So far, we are talking about its presence or not (the preposition). However, it remains for us to understand whether in the occurrences in which the relative pronouns are manifested, the regency also remains determined by the same peculiar traits. This is what we will analyze from now on, starting, of course, from practical examples:
The show we saw was unforgettable.
The street we live on is quite busy.
This is the friend I trust.
This is exactly the position I have longed for.
The restaurant where I had lunch every day was recently closed.
Paying attention to a rather careful analysis, we soon found that such placements do not match the formal standard of the language, lacking, therefore, some adjustments, defined precisely by the non-use of the preposition - which means to say that all verbs are considered transitive indirect. In view of the reality in question, let us rectify the statements:
The show THE what we saw was unforgettable.
The street IN where we live is quite busy.
this is the friend IN that I trust.
That's exactly the job THE I've aspired for a long time.
The restaurant was recently closed IN that I had lunch every day.
