How to make ABNT work cover (model and guide)

O All Matter prepared a template and a guide with everything you need to know to create the cover of your work, according to the standards of the ABNT (Brazilian Association of Technical Standards): font type and size, alignment, when to use boldface or not, among others.

Most educational institutions require academic papers such as TCC (Course Completion Work) and monograph follow the ABNT standards.

Elements of a work cover

The first step to start designing your cover is knowing what information you should present. Check it out below:

1. name of educational institution

The institution name is the first information on the cover.

formatting:

  • Alignment: centered
  • Font: Times New Roman or Arial
  • Characters: all capitals
  • Highlight: bold
  • Font Size: 12

2. course name

The name and type of course (High School, Undergraduate, Graduate, Masters, etc.) can be entered right below the name of the educational institution, with the same format.

  • Highlight: bold
  • Font Size: 12

3. Name of the student who is the author of the work

If the work has been developed by more than one author, the sequence of names must be presented in alphabetical order.

The author's name must be inserted three paragraphs below the institution's name. If you are doing your work on the word, just place the cursor after the last letter of the name of the educational institution and press the “Enter” button three times.

4. title of work

The title of the work must be presented in the center of the page.

5. work subtitle

The subtitle of the work must be informed right after the title.

formatting:

  • Alignment: centered

6. City where the work was developed

The city where the work was carried out should be mentioned at the bottom of the page.

7. Year in which the work was carried out

The year of completion of the work must be informed right after the name of the city.

8. margins

The formatting of the margins must comply with the standards ABNT not only on the cover, but also on the other pages of the work.

  • Top margin and left margin: 3 cm
  • Bottom margin and right margin: 2 cm
