Sustainable development is a concept that corresponds to the environmental development of societies, combined with economic and social development.
The classic concept of sustainable development is:
“Sustainable Development is development capable of meeting the needs of the current generation, without compromising the ability to meet the needs of future generations”.
In other words, sustainable development is one that ensures economic growth without depleting resources for the future.
The concept emerged in 1983, created by the World Commission on Environment and Development, of the United Nations (UN).
It was created to propose a new form of economic development combined with the environment:
“In its essence, sustainable development is a process of change in which the exploitation of resources, the direction of investments, the orientation of the Technological development and institutional change are in harmony and reinforce current and future potential to meet aspirations and needs human beings".
Principles of sustainable development
Sustainable development has as Principles:
- Economic development
- Social development
- Environmental Conservation
For this, actions in favor of a fairer, egalitarian, conscious society are prioritized, in order to bring benefits to everyone. At the same time, it must be recognized that natural resources are finite.
