The States of the Midwest region of Brazil and their respective capitals are: Federal District - Brasilia, Goiás - Goiania, Mato Grosso - Cuiabá and Mato Grosso do Sul - Large field.
Among these states, are part of the Pantanal Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul.
Federal District (DF)
The Federal District is neither a state nor a municipality. Considered the smallest autonomous territory in the country, it has Brasília as its capital and seat of government. Before the creation of Brasília, in the 60s, the Federal Capital of Brazil was the city of Rio de Janeiro.
Population
The population is approximately 2 million inhabitants. Brasília is the fourth most populous city in Brazil.
Limit
The Federal District borders the states of Goiás and Minas Gerais.

Vegetation and Climate
Its vegetation is constituted by the cerrado. The climate is tropical, with annual averages of 20 degrees Celsius, with a hot, rainy summer and a cold, dry winter.

The main rivers are: Paranoá, Descoberto, São Bartolomeu and Preto.
Goiás (GO)
Goiás it is the most populous state in the Midwest and the most central of the Brazilian states. The state of Goiás is among the largest producers of soy and corn in the country, and among the largest producers of generic drugs in the country. The economy of this state is based on industry, commerce, livestock and agriculture.
Population
The population is almost 5 million inhabitants. The most populous cities in the state are: Goiânia, Aparecida de Goiânia, Anápolis, Rio Verde, Luziânia and Águas Lindas.
Limit
According to its location, Goiás is part of the Central Plateau, bordering the states of Tocantins to the north, Mato Grosso de Sul and Minas Gerais to the south; Bahia and Minas Gerais to the east; Mato Grosso to the west.
Vegetation and Climate
Consisting of flat land, the vegetation of Goiás consists of cerrado. Its climate is tropical.

The main rivers are: Aporé, Paranaíba, Araguaia, Corumbá, São Marcos, Maranhão, Paranã, Verde, Vermelho, das Almas and Claro.
Mato Grosso (MT)
O Mato Grosso state, in size, is the third largest state in the country. Much of its territory is occupied by the Legal Amazon. Considered one of the main soy producers and exporters in the country, the economy of this state is based on agriculture, livestock, industry and mining.
Population
The population is approximately 2.5 million inhabitants. The most populous cities in the state are: Cuiabá, Várzea Grande, Rondonópolis and Sinop.
Limit
The state borders Amazonas and Pará to the north, Mato Grosso do Sul to the south, Tocantins and Goiás to the east, Rondônia and Bolivia to the west.
Vegetation and Climate
With a very diversified vegetation, the state of Goiás is constituted by cerrado in the eastern area, wetland in the western area and Amazon forest in the northwest. The climate is tropical humid.

Its main rivers are: Araguaia, Cuiabá, das Mortes, Juruena and Paraguay rivers.
Mato Grosso do Sul (MS)
With regard to the economy, the state of Mato Grosso do Sul it is based on agriculture, livestock, mining and industry.
Population
The population is approximately 2 million inhabitants. The most populous cities in the state are: Campo Grande, Dourados, Corumbá, Ponta Porã, Naviraí, Nova Andradina and Três Lagoas.
Limit
The state borders Mato Grosso to the north, Paraná to the south, Goiás to the northeast, Minas Gerais to the east, São Paulo to the southeast, Bolivia to the west, and Paraguay to the south and west.
Vegetation and Climate
The vegetation of Mato Grosso do Sul is constituted by the cerrado in the eastern region, the Pantanal in the western area and the tropical forest in the southern region. The climate is tropical or tropical in altitude, characterized by rain in summer and dry winter.
Hydrography
Its main rivers: Anhanduí, Apa, Aporé, Currents and Aquidauana.
