Travel or Travel: when to use?

It's possible that you've already had difficulty using words travel or travel, since both exist and are correct according to their context.

This doubt happens due to the similarity of sound between the letters g and j. This is because the words trip and trip are classified as homophones, that is, their pronunciations are identical, but the spellings are different.

Travel (with g) is a noun. Viajem (with j) is a conjugation of the verb to travel (note that to travel is written with j).

But, if this has already happened, from now on you won't go wrong. Let's put an end to this doubt once and for all and understand when traveling and traveling are used.

The rule is: when you use the word as a verb, you must write it with j.

Examples:

  • I hope he travel today.
  • I do not want to go. travel you!
  • travel, yea! It will do you good.

Now, when you use the word as a noun, you must spell it with g.

Examples:

  • I hope you make one travel Wonderful. He deserves!
  • What I most wanted now was to win a travel.
  • Good travel!
