Mathematics and the number you wear – Mathematics in everyday life

We often do not understand the reasons for studying mathematics or when we are going to use a certain part of the content, so we ask ourselves: where is mathematics really applied?

There are countless examples and situations where we can see the use of mathematics. From the moment we wake up to bedtime, we are always making use of this science. When, when getting up in the morning to go to school or do any activity, we say “just five more minutes”, intuitively we are performing mathematical calculations to see if these precious minutes of sleep will not cause a delay. The technology would not be so advanced without the fantastic help of mathematics. From the simplest act to the most sophisticated employability, mathematics is always present in our daily lives, as long as we analyze the situations we experience.

As unimaginable as it may seem, the number you wear is also related to math. There is a formula that relates the number you wear and the size of your foot in centimeters.

Let's see:

Where,

S: is the shoe number.
p: is the foot length in centimeters.

So, if your foot measures 20 cm, your shoe number will be:
