Asking you about what a dissertation text is would be quite unnecessary, tiring, do you agree? Yes, because we have already discussed this modality a lot, but believe that, due to the need to learn it significantly, it never hurts to always be talking a little more and pointing out a feature here, another there, and so on. Thus, in our meeting, we will talk about one more: the impersonality in the essay text.
To begin to understand better, we will assume that in this type of text, always, the exposure of opinions, points of view of the issuer about a given subject susceptible to discussion. Well, how about we analyze some examples right after, huh?
In my opinion, we need to be more cautious, as danger is lurking around.
I guess that we need to be more cautious, as danger is lurking around.
You may not have noticed, but there are some elements in both clauses that are underlined. In that sense, do you agree that they are unnecessary or not?
You see, if in this type of text the author already expresses his ideas, positions such as these are unnecessary, because when he says about something, he already portrays his opinion. So there's no need to emphasize them, okay? Are we going to rectify both cases?
Distinct are the characteristics that are attributed to the dissertation text
We need to be more cautious, as danger is lurking around.
Another aspect, also very important, concerns the change of a point of view within the same text, that is, suppose that the author started his writing in third person singular, however, towards the end, he uses the first person plural. Well, it doesn't even take a lot of effort to conclude that the uniformity of the text has been broken, isn't it?
Based on this idea, it is worth stating that in a dissertation text, you choose the use of the third person singular or the first plural. And not forgetting that, if you started the text using a grammatical person (1st or 3rd), must continue until the end, so that there are no changes in the defended points of view, yea?
