Have you ever noticed that when we write any word we need the letters?
It's interesting isn't it?
They are part of our alphabet, which is made up of 26 letters. Let's know now what they are:
A - B - C - D - E - F - G - H - I - J - K - L - M - N - O - P - Q - R - S - T - U - V - W - X - Y - Z
We don't find many words written with the letters: K, W and Y because they are often used in writing for:
Names of people: Katia, Yara, Wilson.
Unit abbreviations such as: kilogram (kg), kilometer (km).
The letters have special names. They are called consonants and vowels.
The vowels are represented by the letters: A - E - I - O - U
The consonants: B - C - D - F - G - H - J - K - L - M - N - P - Q - R - S - T - V - W - X - Y - Z
When we are going to write, we can use capital and small letters. What we need to know is when to capitalize. So let's go!
- For the names of people, places, animals and in text titles:
Ex: Márcia – Rua do Sossego – the bitch Pituca – Brasília
- At the beginning of sentences in general:
I love playing video games
The moment we pronounce the letters, we hear a sound. Look:
house - car - ball
But there is a curiosity that we need to know. This is the case of the letter "H":
hour – man – Horace
Why can we only hear the sound of the letter “o”?
It's because the “H” has no sound, it only appears in writing.
