Did you know that Vinícius de Moraes, one of the most popular and beloved poets in Brazilian literature, also wrote poems for children? Yes, the little ones were also blessed with the grace and lyricism of the verses of Vinícius, who, in addition to being a writer, was also a composer. Without Vinícius, Brazilian Popular Music would not be the same, as in addition to being one of the Bossa Nova's most important composers, he was also the creator of one of the music classics children's: the disc Noah's Ark.
the songs on the disc Noah's Ark are sung by various artists, including Chico Buarque, Milton Nascimento, Elis Regina, MPB-4 and Alceu Valença
Noah's Ark de Vinícius de Moraes talks about various animals, hence the allusion to the well-known biblical story, and about things (house, door, clock...) as well. The album, which was an old dream of the poet, was released posthumously, in October 1980 (the poet died in July of the same year). Unfortunately, Vinícius could not follow the success of his creation, which brings together poems set to music in the 1950s by his friend Paulo Soledade, besides having the participation of Toquinho, his partner in several songs and friend personal.
Escola Kids presents for you some songs from this album that is considered a classic of Brazilian children's music. Surely you will recognize the songs from Vinicius de Moraes, as they have inhabited the imagination of children and adults for at least three decades. Enjoy and listen to the music versions, available on the internet. Happy reading and good fun!
The House is one of the best known songs on the album Noah's Ark, by Vinícius de Moraes
The House
it was a house
Very funny
had no roof
there was nothing
no one could
Enter it, no
because in the house
There was no floor
no one could
Sleep on the Net
because in the house
had no wall
no one could
pee
because potty
there was no
But it was done
with great care
in Rua dos Bobos
Number zero.
Vinicius de Moraes
Little owl, little owl / what a pity you are / you're all shrunk up / always looking I don't know what
little owl
little owl, little owl
What a pity of you
It gets all shrunk
Always looking I don't know what
your singing suddenly
makes us shiver
little owl, poor thing
everyone who sees you
Say so, oh, poor thing
how ugly you are
when the night comes
your dawn arrives
And if the sun comes up
you will fly hide you
You're vain nowadays
how proud
every night your little face
appears on TV
little owl, poor thing
How ugly you are.

Vinícius de Moraes' duck is certainly the best known and most beloved in Brazil!
The duck
here comes the duck
Paw here, paw there
here comes the duck
To see what's there
the goofy duck
painted the mug
spanked the chicken
hit the mallard
jumped off the perch
at the horse's foot
took a kick
raised a rooster
ate a piece
from genipap
got choked
with pain in the conversation
fell into the well
broke the bowl
So many did the boy
Which went to the pan.
