Sometimes our eyelids flutter relentlessly. This trembling in the eyes cannot be controlled, even if we try, and the worst thing: it can last even days. This completely annoying action is very common, but, after all, why does the eye "jump"?
The problem is directly related to the life we lead. When we are very anxious about something or we are not sleeping well, this problem can arise. In addition, everyday stress, overuse of computers and excess caffeine (found in coffee and mate tea, for example) can lead to this annoying tremor.
It is noteworthy, however, that some diseases can trigger the “jumping” of the eyes, such as conjunctivitis, dry eye and uveitis. Although stress is usually the cause, it is important to see your ophthalmologist to rule out any illness.
It's important to remember that a very stressful life can trigger serious health problems, such as heart problems. Therefore, it is important to reduce the pace of life and unhealthy habits. No spending the entire day surfing the internet! In addition, tremor can be lessened by removing coffee, chocolate, mate tea, and soda from the diet. Soothing foods such as passion fruit and chamomile can alleviate the problem.
Trying to escape the stress of everyday life can prevent eye twitching
Here are some tips on how to relax your eyes:
- Do not spend too much time in front of the TV and computer. If it is necessary to spend a long time in front of these devices, take breaks so that the eye does not get dry and irritated. It is recommended that, every hour, breaks of at least 10 minutes are taken;
- When going out in the sun, always wear glasses. they are like the sunscreens of our eyes, helping to protect against UV rays;
- Always buy sunglasses in specialized places;
- Avoid staying too long in air-conditioned places, as they dry out and irritate the eyes;
- Avoid scratching your eyes as the cornea is very sensitive. Also, dirty hands can cause eye irritation;
- Clean your contact lenses well;
- Always have a balanced diet rich in vitamins. Lack of vitamin A is linked to problems such as dry eyes and a condition known as night blindness. A food that is very good for the eyesight is carrots, which are rich in vitamins A and E;
- Do not use any over-the-counter eye drops. It's not because a friend used it that it will do you good. Remember that some drops, if used incorrectly, can lead to blindness;
- Sleep well. A bad night's sleep can damage not only your eyes, but your entire body and mind;
- Regularly visit an ophthalmologist.
