Proclisis? Mesoclisis? Gosh! It seems that both words don't sound that familiar to us, don't they? But don't worry, as soon as you'll remember some concepts you've already learned. Thus, before we proceed with our studies, how about accessing the text “pronominal placement”?
Well then, we found that both proclisis and mesoclisis refer to the positions where the unstressed oblique pronoun is found., being that it can be located before the verb or in the middle of it.
However, as you could also see, the use now of one way or another is independent of our will, that is, it is not enough to want to use only proclisis or only mesoclisis, given thatthe use of pronominal placement itself is related to specific conditions, to pre-established rules.
Now that we are aware of these aspects, let's analyze when we douse of proclisis and when we make use of mesoclisis. To begin... some examples, of course:
The situations of use of mesoclisis and proclisis are different
I haven't finished reading the book you lent me, so I will deliver you tomorrow.
As you can see, the verb deliver is found in thefuture of the present, hawhich is why we should only make use of the mesoclisis (pronoun in the middle of the verb). Thus, there is an inadequate placement in the previous example, because instead of themesoclisis was used the proclisis. Thus, making the utterance according to the formal standard of language, we have:
I haven't finished reading the book you lent me, so I will deliver it tomorrow.
But be aware (a) of a detail: if before the pronoun there is a word, a term that, by chance, makes it impossible to use the mesoclisis, then yes, we should use the proclisis, ok? So, to make everything even clearer for you, let us analyze together the cases in which we can make this exchange, so to speak. Taking the same example, we have:
I haven't finished reading the book you lent me, so I won't deliver it tomorrow.
And now? Does the use of proclisis (pronoun before verb) is correct?
Obviously yes, because there is a word that tells us that it is a perfectly adequate placement, do you know why?
Well, because the little word “no” is characterized as an adverb of negation, do you agree?
After everything we've learned here, it remains to be emphasized that the analysis of prayer represents a great and effective resource for us to know which form will be the most appropriate, combined?
