Surely you've already met someone who uses beer, wine or cachaça, for example. These drinks have as main characteristic the presence of ethyl alcohol in their composition.

Alcohol is a very common drug nowadays, since its consumption is allowed by the authorities. Although there is a ban on the sale of alcoholic beverages to under-18s, we are constantly seeing non-compliance with this law.

Alcohol acts on our brain, so it is classified as a psychotropic drug. Shortly after being ingested, this substance starts to cause euphoria, decreased shame, mood swings and lack of coordination. The person does not perform their obligations, as they become dependent on drinks, and can no longer go without using them. Cases of people who lost their job and ended their relationships because they couldn't control their addiction are common.

Problems that were once transient, when use was sporadic, become frequent and can pose even greater risks. The constant use of alcoholic beverages can trigger serious health problems, such as cirrhosis, hypertension, gastritis, nutritional problems and cancer. For pregnant women, the risk is even greater, as it can cause problems such as malformations in the fetus.
