You may have heard about the text types, Is not it? Knowing the different texts and their discursive characteristics is essential for anyone who wants to write a good essay. They can range from five to nine types, but generally the most studied are narration, argumentation, description, injunction, and prescription. Today we will talk about injunctive texts and prescriptive texts, types that present statements organized in a well-defined structure and, for this reason, can be easily recognized. Come on?
Injunctive texts and prescriptive texts have the same purpose, which is to instruct the reader. They not only provide information, but they also guide and guide the conduct of the reader. Although they are very similar, there are some differences that allow us to identify them: while the injunctive text informs, helps, advises, recommends and proposes, the prescriptive text obliges, orders, imposes, demanding that the determinations be fulfilled strictly. Also known as instructional text, the injunctive text has the following characteristics:
→ Instructs or induces the reader to proceed in a certain way;
→ It uses simple and straightforward language;
→ Allows the reader's freedom of action;
→ It uses verbs in the infinitive, imperative or present indicative, always indetermining the subject.
Examples of injunctive text: medicine leaflet, instruction manual, cooking recipe etc.

Characteristics of the prescriptive text
The prescriptive text has the following characteristics:
→ Instructs the reader on a particular procedure;
→ Requires the reader to follow its determinations;
→ Does not allow the reader's freedom of action;
→ It uses verbs in the infinitive, imperative or present indicative, always indetermining the subject.
Examples of prescriptive text: traffic rules, notice of public tenders, constitution, contractual clauses, laws etc.
