Importance of the three meals

Eating well goes far beyond the type of food you choose to make up your diet. Eating well is also about correct intervals between meals, with how we perform every meal and, of course, with a diet rich in healthy foods that meet our needs daily.

To have a correct diet, it is necessary to pay attention to the three main meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner.

  • Breakfast: this meal is extremely important because it's the first of the day. It occurs after a long period of fasting, as an average person sleeps eight hours each night. Therefore, it is essential that it be carried out before any other activity. If a person decides to work, go to school or exercise soon after waking up without eating this meal, there may be a drop in blood pressure and even fainting.

  • Lunch:it's usually the meal where we get the most nutrients and calories we need, since that's when we eat, for example, meat, which is a source of protein, vegetables, which are rich in vitamins and fiber, and rice, a great source of carbohydrates. In addition to ensuring nutrients, lunch provides energy to complete the rest of our daily activities.

  • Dinner: it is usually a lighter meal than lunch, however, it is essential to replenish our energy. It is important not to go overboard at dinner, as digestion is difficult when we sleep.

How important are snacks between big meals?

Between large meals, it is important to always have small snacks, such as fruit and cereal bars. These snacks are essential to keep the body active and prevent overeating at large meals.

Therefore, the ideal for healthy eating is that there are five to six meals: breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner and supper.
