One Angel is spirit creature that dwells in the sky and has the function of messenger between God and human beings.
The word angel comes from the Greek term aggelos which means messenger, and they are heavenly beings created by God to be messengers. They have no will of their own, that is, they do not have free will like Man, and are created with the sole purpose of giving glory and fulfilling God's will.
According to angelology, angelic beings are: seraphim, cherubim, thrones, dominations, virtues, powers, principalities, archangels and angels. St. Thomas Aquinas divided celestial beings into three spheres. The first is made up of seraphim, cherubim and thrones. The domains, virtues and powers are part of the second sphere. The third sphere is made up of archangels and angels.
Lucifer was an angel of light, who rebelled against God. He and his followers were cast out of heaven and turned into Satan and demons.
The worship of angels (angelodulia) is a common practice in the Catholic and Orthodox Church, but is rejected by Judaism and Protestantism. Despite this, several elements of the Catholic Church claim that they do not worship angels and saints, they only worship.
In the context of the arts, angels were depicted in human form and with wings, to give them a less earthly and more supernatural appearance. Many angels are represented as children.
When used figuratively, the word angel can describe a very good, innocent, or very good person. Ex: He is an angel, he would be unable to hurt another person.
The expression guardian angel describes an angel who plays the role of someone's protector. Catholic doctrine based on the passage in Matthew 18:10 states that a guardian angel is an angel that accompanies each person, especially after baptism.
