Slope is a sloping terrain that serves to give support and stability to the ground near a plateau.
Also known as hills, slopes or ramps, slopes can be of natural origin, that is, created by nature, or artificial, when made by human beings.
In order for the slope to provide satisfactory stability, its inclination must be a maximum of 45º. A higher number is not recommended, as it can compromise the plateau structure, causing it to collapse.
According to the length of the slope, it is still advisable to build a contour lines, which have the function of preventing erosion caused by rain, for example. Another feature of artificial slopes it is the presence of vegetation that serves to cover the slopes, so that the soil gains greater stabilization.
O natural slope, as said, is usually formed by the forces of nature (rain, wind, sun and other geological actions).
continental slope
It consists of the steep slope that lies beneath the oceans and divides the continental shelf from the continental foothills (also known as the "continental margin").
The continental slope usually corresponds to the bathypelagic zone, a layer that extends between 1000 and 4000 meters below the surface of the ocean.
