Definition of Muscle Tonus (What it is, Concept and Definition)

muscle tone is the involuntary state of natural contraction of body muscles, responsible for making them take action whenever necessary.

Nerve stimuli are responsible for causing muscle tone, a state in which the muscles are constantly.

Without muscle tone, the muscles would be at complete rest (hypotonus), a condition that would make its immediate movement difficult. Loss of muscle tone occurs when there is damage to the nerve responsible for keeping the muscle in semi-contraction.

Do not confuse the state of hypotony (loss of muscle tone) with physiological flaccidity, caused by sedentary lifestyle, in this case muscle tone can be easily recovered with the exercise of regular physical activities.

On the other hand, the hypertony consists of an abnormal increase in muscle tone. This condition is usually a consequence of some neurological pathologies, or motivated by emotional tensions.

Emotional tensions, in turn, cause feelings of muscle tension, which cause the body to expend more energy than normal, causing fatigue and muscle pain.
