Meaning of Praise (What it is, Concept and Definition)

Praise is the act of extol and glorify something or something; extol the action of someone or a divinity.

The use of the word "praise" can be used in phrases that represent situations of glory or pride in performing and performing a certain task or action. Example: "The boy passed the math test with flying colors", that is, the boy passed with distinction, glory and honor in the exam he took.

However, the most common use of this noun is related to the religious scope. No matter what the religion, they all practice and talk about the act of "praising" the entity that represents their doctrine. Example: "Let's Praise God".

In monotheistic doctrines, such as Christianity, for example, praise is practiced through songs, dances, services and other manifestations of worship to God. In the early days of Christian doctrines, animal sacrifice was also considered a way of thanking or pleasing God.

During Ancient Egypt and the Mayan and Aztec civilizations, as part of the rituals of worshiping their gods, the sacrifice of human beings was quite common in worship services.

Today, praises continue to signify demonstrations of reverence and love for God among members of a religious doctrine. Evangelicals, for example, practice the so-called "gospel praise", mainly in the form of songs and prayers that exalt the image and power of the Divine.
