Modest is an adjective that qualifies one who is moderate in their desires, actions and aspirations., which is not ambitious.

A modest individual is one who is simple, unpretentious, who has no vanity, that is, who reveals modesty, humility.

Some synonyms for modest can be: unaffected, natural, decent, modest, restrained, moderate and simple.

To be modest, in another context, is to be modest, is to have modesty and decency, is to nurture a feeling of shame or shyness produced by everything that is contrary to honesty. Ex.: He was modest, he soon recognized his mistake.

To be modest is also to be cautious, cautious, restricted, prudent, is one who does not exceed and observes conveniences. Ex.: He is modest in his spending.

Modest is one who does not occupy himself with luxury or ostentation and who demonstrates poverty and humility. Ex.: He lives in a modest house.
